The Australia Day Awards Program offers Council the opportunity to recognise the valuable achievements of individuals who contribute to the vibrancy of Moreton Bay community life across the region.

The program comprises two award categories:

Citizen of the Year Award:

This award recognises an individual for their outstanding achievement or contributions to our community. The winner of this award must be an Australian Citizen and live in City of Moreton Bay.

Mayor's Community Spirit Award:

This award recognises an individual for their significant contribution to our community. Their contributions and achievements may be in any area of community life, including sport, arts and culture, and the environment. 

Australia Day Award nominations:

Winners are announced at an award ceremony which occurs in January each year.

The Citizen of the Year award winner will receive a certificate, gift voucher and local gifts valued up to $750.

Winners of the Mayor's Community Spirit Award will receive a certificate, gift voucher and local gifts valued up to $500.

Nominees will be considered based on their:

• contribution to City of Moreton Bay
• commitment, contribution or achievement in their field
• service as an inspirational role model for the community.
