Purpose
The Banyule Council will acknowledge and celebrate the spirit of connection and the incredible impact volunteers have in building inclusive and flourishing communities at its annual Volunteer Celebration.
Overview
The Banyule Volunteer Awards recognise and honour outstanding individuals and groups who significantly contributed to:
- the development of their organisation
- the local community and
- have had a positive impact on the quality of life of our residents.
This is your chance to nominate someone special that has actively been a part of improving our community.
Categories for the 2026 awards are:
- Individual volunteer
- Lifetime contribution
- Young volunteer (for individuals aged 12-25 as of 1st January 2026)
- Group or community initiative
Limitations
To be eligible for the Individual, Lifetime Contribution or Young Volunteer award, nominees must:
- Be current or previous volunteers (within the last 5 years) for not-for-profit organisations or groups based in or servicing residents in the City of Banyule (refer to our website at banyule.vic.gov.au/About-us/Banyule-facts-and-statistics to see which suburbs are within Banyule).
- Be nominated by another individual (self- nominations are not accepted in this category).
To be eligible for the Group or Community Initiative Volunteer Award nominees must:
- Be a not-for-profit community organisation, group or school based in the City of Banyule or if based outside Banyule must provide a direct and significant benefit to Banyule residents.
