The Golden Gecko Award for Environmental Excellence recognises and rewards leading practices, innovation and excellence in environmental management in the resources sector.

The Golden Gecko Award for Environmental Excellence recognises leading practices and innovation in environmental management. It provides an opportunity to share experiences between government, industry and the community.

The Golden Gecko Award is assessed based on the merit of each application, not as a competition between applicants. Small projects are encouraged to apply, as the merit of the project will be assessed taking the size and resources of the individual or company into consideration.

Recipients of the Golden Gecko Award and Certificates of Merit will be announced at an Award Ceremony in October.

Entries for the Golden Gecko are encouraged from individuals, companies and organisations. Entries can be for a particular stage of an activity, an environmental program or an entire resource operation (the project).

Entries must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

• relate to a resource industry operation (mining, petroleum, geothermal or geosequestration);
• relate to environmental management or research;
• be based in Western Australia (including State waters); and
• address the assessment criteria.
