Not-for-profit groups and organisations that have significant local membership or participation, and/or are undertaking a project that shows significant local benefits, may be eligible for a donation or financial assistance from Council.

The maximum donation per financial year under this program is $2000.

Council will invite applications for financial assistance during May or June each year as part of its Annual Donations program. Council will consider these applications during August.

To be eligible for a donation from Council the following criteria must be met: 

• Applicants must complete the prescribed application form. 
• The project must be undertaken in Lake Macquarie local government area and demonstrate significant local benefit. 
• Applicants must provide evidence of not-for-profit status. 
• Applications for a donation must be for a specific purpose and not be considered as a recurrent source of future funding. 
• All relevant information requested in the application form must be provided. 
• The activity or project must commence in the financial year in which the donation is bought and granted. 
• Funds must be used for the purpose for which they were granted. 
• Applicants must obtain all appropriate permits, approvals and insurance relating to their project. 
• The project must not already be supported by a different ‘Funding from Council’ or ‘Sponsorship from Council’ program
