Purpose

The NVHA Grant program seeks to support Heritage Agreement owners to enhance biodiversity on their land.

Overview

A Native Vegetation Heritage Agreement is a conservation area on private land, established between the landholder and the Minister for Climate, Environment and Water on recommendation of the Native Vegetation Council (NVC), which contributes to protecting and/or restoring indigenous biodiversity.

Note:  Although the grant program has been popular and all funds have been fully allocated, you can still submit an expression of interest should additional funding become available.

In addition the program can still support Heritage Agreement owners by:

- conducting site visits and providing land management advice

- developing works plans which can be used to apply for grants if funding becomes available, including from other sources.

Submit an Expression of Interest and an Officer will be in touch to discuss your site and the support that could be available to you.

Limitations

To be eligible for a Heritage Agreement grant, you must:

  • own a Heritage Agreement
  • propose activities to manage or improve biodiversity within your Heritage Agreement
  • have not received funding to undertake the same activities from another source or are not required to conduct the same activities through another arrangement, e.g. offsetting
  • propose activities that will be completed within the timeframe for this program (i.e. before June 2026)
  • have no outstanding matters with the Department for Environment and Water, i.e. no outstanding conditions related to previous funding agreements.
