Purpose
The City of Stirling is committed to building a sustainable future for the community and we recognise the valuable role that community groups, organisations and individuals can play in driving sustainability and protecting and enhancing our natural environment.
Overview
Quick response grants may include but are not limited to:
- Expenses associated with becoming incorporated – Up to $1,000
- Public Liability Insurance – Up to $1000
- Funding for administrative and operational requirements for incorporated conservation volunteer groups – Up to $1,500.
What could be funded
This list is not exhaustive, and the funder recommends discussing your project with a grants officer prior to submitting an application.
- Undertake a sustainability audit and assessment of your community facility or garden
- Build a community composting station or worm farm setup to divert organic waste from landfill
- Deliver an environmental educational workshop, event, campaign or volunteering initiative
- Undertake a citizen science project to enable residents to do community research
- Install a solar PV system on a community facility
- Adopt and plant out a pedestrian accessway with waterwise native plants and mulch
- Start a community garden or school garden project - please refer to the Community Gardens Policy for the full process to establish a new community garden
- Plant native plants on the coastal dunes or in our local bushlands
- Repair, refurbishment and upcycling activities
- Upgrade your verge to replace irrigated grass with waterwise native plants and mulch
- Initiatives that facilitate our community to achieve sustainable consumption and production.
Limitations
Eligible applicants
- A not-for-profit organisation or incorporated association
- Registered conservation volunteer groups
- An individual or unincorporated group (eligible for quick response grants only, if the applicant is under 18, or the funding is over $2,000 they must be auspiced)
- Registered schools with matched funding
- A small business based in Stirling with an ABN matching the request for support
- Have not received other funding from the City for the same activity this financial year
- Have fulfilled the conditions of a previous City of Stirling grant by the due date and no overdue debts with the City
- Have adequate public liability insurance
- Located within the City of Stirling or provide outcomes that are delivered in the City of Stirling area.
Ineligible applicants
- Current employees or elected members of the City of Stirling
- Federal, State and local government agencies and bodies
- Political parties or organisations aligned to a political cause.
