Purpose

Vicinity Community Grants are aimed at empowering local community groups to deliver programs and initiatives that strengthen community resilience and connectedness.

Overview

Eligible local community groups can apply for grants between $1000 and $10,000, with a focus on four key areas:

  • youth engagement and youth underemployment
  • environmental rejuvenation
  • education
  • community well-being

Following the success at the four centres involved in the inaugural Vicinity Community Grants in 2023, the 2024 program has been expanded to include all municipalities where a Vicinity shopping centre is located.

Applications for Vicinity Community Grants will open April 1, and close April 30. Eligible community groups are encouraged visit their local centre’s website to learn about eligibility and how to apply.

Vicinity Community Grants has a total pool of $110,000 Australia and reflects Vicinity's ongoing commitment to supporting the local communities where its centres are located. In FY23 Vicinity contributed $4.5 million in community investment through targeted community programs.

Limitations

Who is eligible to apply?

Funding is available to community focused organisations including community associations, not-for profit and charitable organisations and social enterprises.

Please note- organisations must have DGR1 status to be eligible. Organisations without DGR1 status are welcome to apply if auspiced by a DGR1 organisation.

Please see the section on auspicing in the guidelines document before submitting your application.

Funding is not available for individuals, government organisations, political parties, religious groups, ‘’for-profit” business or commercial sponsorships. If an application does not meet the criteria and objectives, it will be deemed invalid and withdrawn from consideration. During each funding round, only one application per organisation will be considered.

Where can funds be spent?

Funding is available for eligible applications with outcomes focused on communities in the municipal catchments of a Vicinity Centre.

A full list of Vicinity Centres can be found here. The organisation does not need to be based in the above defined catchment, however the project outcome deliverable must.

The funding catchment may change or expand on an annual basis in line with the renewed goals for the Vicinity Community grants Program each year.
