Purpose
Up to $2 million in funding is available to support initiatives that address climate change challenges in Vietnam's agriculture sector for inclusive development.
Overview
This round focuses on harnessing innovative technologies to mitigate the impacts of climate change in agriculture. It aligns with the broader Aus4Innovation objective of supporting the inclusive and sustainable development of Vietnam's innovation system.
The theme for this round is High-Tech Innovation to Address Climate Change Challenges in the Agriculture Sector for Inclusive Development. The grants program intends to support established partnerships to advance or scale up an existing innovative idea.
Grants ranging from AUD 300,000 to 700,000 will be awarded on a competitive basis to support partnerships between Australian and Vietnamese organisations, aiming to advance innovation in agriculture.
The grants program is not intended to test partnerships or activities, but rather to invest in the scaling of more mature partnerships and ideas. As indicated in the eligibility section, the partnership will comprise (at least) a Vietnamese and an Australian entity. The partnership must predate the application, but it may previously have been created around a different activity to the one submitted for this grant funding. Partnerships with women or people with disability in leading roles are encouraged to apply.
Limitations
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must:
- Be an Australian entity collaborating with a Vietnamese partner through an established and ongoing partnership
- Have an existing innovation idea with a clear pathway to scale, impact and sustainability
- Address an innovation need in Vietnam
- Comply with the Australia's Official Development Assistance (ODA) policy
- Contribute to the overarching objectives of Aus4Innovation.
Applications that include one of the following are encouraged:
- Demonstrate how they include one or more of the following targeted social groups: women, people with disabilities, ethnic minority groups and LGBTQI through a mainstream approach (inclusion of social groups in the innovation) or targeted approach (social groups are targeted in the innovation).
- Engage women and disability focused organisations and bring benefits to women, girls, and people with disabilities either directly or indirectly.
- Bring benefits to disadvantaged communities, for example, in mountainous or remote areas, either directly or indirectly.
- Strongly align with or build on work delivered through other A4I activities (e.g. the Network of Innovation Actors, Innovation Policy Dialogue etc).
- Engage private sector partners significantly.
