Purpose
To improve environmental outcomes in the Gympie region through the delivery of ongoing environmental programs by community organisations primarily focused on environment activities.
Overview
The maximum grant amount is $30,000 with a co-contribution from Council contribution (maximum 80% of project cost) and applicant (minimum 20% of project cost).
Applicants must address at least one of the following priorities:
- Biodiversity and habitat protection
- Adapting to a changing climate and natural hazard management
- Improving land management practices that influence water quality and waterway health
- Energy efficiency and the addition of renewable energy
- Waste reduction and/or environmental educational awareness
- Wildlife protection and rehabilitation.
Eligible Expenses:
- Program Officer/Coordinator costs related to the program
- Program related operational expenses including fuel for vehicles, consumable foods for wildlife rehabilitation.
- Equipment purchases that are integral to the delivery of the program (e.g. equipment for surveys, monitoring, research) (capped at $12,000 in total of the grant).
- Note: this category cannot be used for the installation of solar panels or related energy efficiency projects (refer to the Community facilities category).
Limitations
Council's Community Grants Program is open to applications from community organisations that:
- Are an incorporated not-for-profit community organisation, or have an auspice arrangement with an incorporated not-for-profit community organisation (including not- for-profit cooperatives and companies limited by guarantee)
- Hold $20M public liability insurance and other forms of insurance relevant to the project (see Insurance Coverage for External Parties Policy)
- Have no outstanding debt with Council
- Are based in, or provide direct benefits to, the Gympie region.
