Purpose

The Community Assistance Scheme aims to build capacity, encourage participation and support initiatives that promote partnerships and working together to maintain our community and its assets. 

Overview

Wingecarribee Shire Council's Community Financial Assistance Program 2025 is now open for applications.

Each year, Council provides financial and in-kind support to eligible individuals, community groups, and not-for-profit organisations. These programs help deliver the goals of Wingecarribee 2035 and support a thriving, connected, and resilient community.

Our grants, sponsorships and subsidies are competitive and designed to deliver measurable community benefit.

Funding Programs Available

A wide range of programs are open under the Framework. Each has specific eligibility and funding caps.

  • Community Grants - $1,000 to $5,000 for community-led projects and initiatives.

  • Sustainability Grants - $500 to $3,000 for schools and community groups advancing environmental sustainability.

  • Kick Starter Grants - $250 to $1,000 for small-scale, grassroots community and youth initiatives.

  • Small Halls Activation Grants - Up to $1,000 to activate and increase use of small halls.

  • Community Event Sponsorship - $500 to $10,000 to support events that bring people together and celebrate our Shire.

  • Destination Event Sponsorship - In-kind support for events that drive visitation and boost the local economy.

  • Young Achievers Awards and Donations (open quarterly) - $50 to $200 to celebrate and support outstanding young people.
  • Venue Access Program (Bowral Memorial Hall) - Subsidised access for cultural performances and community groups.

  • Community Waste Disposal Assistance Scheme - Support to cover disposal costs for community clean-ups and events.

  • Christmas Micro-grants - $1000 - $4000 to support community-led Christmas activations.

Limitations

Who can apply?

You may be eligible if you are a:

  • Not-for-profit organisation (including incorporated associations, sporting clubs, village groups, and arts and cultural organisations).

  • Unincorporated community group supported by an eligible incorporated body (auspice).

  • Registered charity (specific categories only).

  • School or educational institution delivering projects with a broader community benefit.

  • For-profit business (event sponsorship only, where there is clear community or economic benefit).

  • Individual (specific categories only, e.g. selected to represent at State or National level in sport, arts, or science).
