Purpose
Environment grants provide funding to not-for-profit community groups and organisations. They support initiatives that address local or citywide environmental issues, and maintain community gardens on Council land.
Overview
The program has 2 grant categories.
Category 1:

This category is for specific environmental and community gardens on-ground projects and events. The grant funds materials and services to be used directly for the nominated project.
Category 2 (not available for community gardens applicants)

This category supports operational and administration expenses of community groups. These costs must be attributable to activities and community services performed by the group within the Brisbane LGA and have an environmental focus.
Funding amount:
- Category 1: $1,000 - $20,000 (Community Gardens applicants: up to $2,500)
- Category 2: $1,000 - $8,000
Limitations
Eligibility:
You can apply if:
- you're an incorporated not-for-profit organisation
- you're an unincorporated not-for-profit organisation or community group supported by an incorporated not-for-profit organisation that accepts legal and financial responsibility for the project (auspice organisation)
- your projects and administration expenses are delivering or supporting projects that are based within the Brisbane Local Government Area
- your community garden is listed on Council's Community gardens web page and involvement is open to the wider community
- you have written approval from the landowner, Brisbane City Council (land manager representative)
- you (and your auspice) don't have any outstanding debts or overdue, un-acquitted grants with Council.
