Purpose

The Urban Forest Grants enable community members, groups and organisations to deliver their own project to contribute to the greening of the Town.

Overview

Urban Forest Grants are available for community led initiatives that contribute to the implementation of the Urban Forest Strategy (UFS) and progress the actions from the UFS Implementation Action Plan.

The Urban Forest Grants enable community members, groups and organisations to deliver their own project to contribute to the greening of the Town. This is an opportunity to create a lasting legacy that will influence the Town for generations to come.

Projects that may be supported through the program include (but are not limited to):

  • Planting native trees and shrubs
  • Initiatives that enhance biodiversity and support local ecology
  • Projects that improve soil and water quality
  • Community education programs on tree care and maintenance
  • Creative workshops and events promoting the Urban Forest Strategy's goals.

All applicants are highly recommended to contact the Urban Forest team at ufs@vicpark.wa.gov.au or on (08) 9311 8111 to discuss their project prior to submitting an application.

Limitations

Urban Forest Grants are open to a broad range of applicants including individuals, groups (unincorporated bodies/partnerships) or organisations (not-for-profit and for-profit). This includes School P&C's, church groups, businesses, enthusiastic individuals and groups of neighbours who share a passion for a project.

If you, or your group, would like administrative assistance in managing the grant, you can arrange to have a third-party auspice it.

Unless otherwise stated in additional ineligibility criteria under each funding program, applicants will be ineligible where:

  • the applicant has an outstanding debt to the Town;
  • the applicant has failed to submit a satisfactory acquittal for a previous Town funding program;
  • the application is submitted retrospectively i.e. after a project, activity and/or program has already taken place; or
  • the applicant is a Town employee, Elected Member or a relative of an Elected Member or Town staff.
