Purpose
Grant funds through Community Rivercare Program Round 9 will be available for one and two- year projects to enable on ground works by community groups.
Overview
Grants of between $3,000 and $100,000 (ex GST) in total for the duration of the project will be provided to community volunteer groups to conserve the natural, cultural, and social amenity values of the rivers, tributaries and urban drains within the Swan Canning Catchment.
This will be achieved through projects that deliver:
- Habitat improvement for birds and/or other species dependent on waterways.
- Foreshore revegetation and weed control.
- Weed control to promote natural regeneration.
- Bank stabilisation to repair or prevent foreshore erosion.
- Water quality improvement.
Projects must be in the Swan Canning Catchment or other catchments that feed into the Swan and Canning rivers. It is strongly recommended that applications are submitted online via the SmartyGrants portal: Community Rivercare Program Round 9. Limitations
Eligible applicants:
- Community groups with a volunteer base.
- Not-for-profit Natural Resource Management (NRM) groups with a community volunteer base.
Community groups must be incorporated or sponsored (under an auspicing arrangement) by another group or organisation that will administer their grant funding (see section 13 for more information about sponsorship).
Government agencies, educational institutions, businesses, land managers or landowners may participate by forming partnerships with community groups and contributing to projects.
