Purpose

Landcare Tasmania's devolved grants program is designed to support community-based landcare through small to medium-scale project funding for community care groups and landcaring land managers (Landcare Tasmania members).

Overview

This round, "Landcare Action Grants 2026: Protecting, Enhancing, and Maintaining Tasmania's Natural Values" will provide $240,000 for on-ground projects targeting member-driven projects that protect, enhance, and maintain high conservation value areas, while also aligning with at least one of the overall State Government Landcare Action Grant Objectives:

  • Improve landscape and riverine health, stability and resilience;
  • Support enhanced land management practices to reduce erosion and sedimentation;
  • Assist the community to holistically manage natural and productive land and waterways across the landscape.

Grants Available:

  • The preferred project funding amount is $5,000 to $20,000 (ex. GST) per project, with up to $40,000 (ex. GST) available for exceptional projects as determined by the assessment panel.
  • Funding for larger projects will be paid in up to 3 milestones, with a progress report required for payment of each milestone.
  • Successful projects must address the criteria outlined in section 5.
  • Supported activities include weed control, fencing, invasive species management and other activities deemed essential for the protection, enhancement, and maintenance of high conservation value areas.

Limitations

To be eligible to apply for the grant, you must be a member of Landcare Tasmania. Eligible applicants include all types of Landcare Tasmania members:

  • Community groups
  • Individual
  • Associate

Please note that if you are a member of a Community Care Group, the application will need to be submitted by the Community Care Group, unless you hold an individual or associate membership. Any application submitted by a non-member will not be considered.
