Purpose

The Community Event Sponsorship program supports local, community-led events near the proposed Borumba Project.

Overview

Sponsorship of up to $5,000 (ex GST) is available for events that strengthen community connection, boost tourism and the economy, promote STEM education, improve health, safety and wellbeing, or support environment and sustainability.

Applications are open year-round for events scheduled up until the end of 2026. Applications must be submitted at least three months before funding being required.

Funding is limited and will be considered and prioritised on a case-by-case basis for events that best meet the program criteria.

Limitations

To receive funding under the Community Event Sponsorship Program, applicants must:

  • be a Community trust, Incorporated community association, Not-for-profit, Social enterprise, Charity, or Public Benevolent Institution
  • be applying for an event being delivered in the Gympie or Somerset Local Government Area. Priority will be placed on events benefiting communities in closer proximity to the proposed Borumba Project. This includes, but is not limited to, communities living in postcodes 4515, 4570 or 4574.
  • be applying for a once-off event or series of events. If applying for sponsorship of an event series, only one application will be accepted.
  • be of sound legal and financial standing
  • align with Queensland Hydro's values

If applying through an auspice, the auspicing applicants must meet these eligibility requirements.
