Purpose

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) is to help you if the disaster caused major damage to your home or major assets that you own at your home. It can also help if you were seriously injured or your immediate family member has died or is missing.

Overview

You may be eligible for this payment if you or an eligible child you care for were directly affected in one or more of the following ways:

  • major damage to your principal place of residence
  • major damage to a major asset or assets that you own at your principal place of residence
  • serious injury
  • an immediate family member who is an Australian citizen or resident has died or is missing.

You have until 14 July 2026 to make a claim for the following areas:

Major damage to your principal place of residence includes any of the following:

  • it's been destroyed or must be demolished
  • it's been declared structurally unsound
  • this disaster has exposed the interior to the elements
  • sewage has gotten inside it.

Funding Available:  You may be eligible for a one-off payment of $1,000 per adult and $400 per child.

Limitations

To be eligible for this payment, you must be both of these:

Adversely affected means that you or an eligible child you care for must have been directly affected by the declared disaster. This includes one or more of the following:

To claim AGDRP, at the time of this disaster you must be either:

  • 16 or older
  • under 16 and get an eligible payment.

You can include any eligible child you care for at the time of this disaster in your claim.

You can only get AGDRP once for this disaster.
