Purpose

The Communities Climate Action Grants Program supports the ACT Government's commitment to working collaboratively with the ACT community to achieve our climate change goals and become a climate ready city.

Overview

The ACT Government has committed $300,000 over two years to fund the Communities Climate Action Grants Program to support diverse and specific social groups to deliver impactful projects that:

  • empower their local community group to undertake actions that reduce emissions in the ACT and/or
  • prepare communities for the impacts of climate change.

Groups could include charitable and not-for-profit groups including schools, religious organisations, cultural groups and special interest groups such as social and recreational groups and arts groups.

Favourable consideration will be given to projects that:

  • promote partnerships and/or interactions beyond their community group to achieve emissions reductions and respond to expected climate changes
  • support the community to take action to reduce key sources of emissions in the ACT, such as transport emissions.

Limitations

The program is open to applicants in the ACT who:

  • are not-for-profit community groups
  • are individuals and non-incorporated groups with an incorporated community organisation sponsor (auspicing organisation)
  • have an active ABN and public liability insurance.
