Purpose

The City of Mitcham Grants Program provides funding to eligible groups, organisations and individual residents who present applications that demonstrate alignment with City of Mitcham's strategic objectives that can be found within the Mitcham 2030 document

Overview

My Mitcham Community Grants will be offered in two rounds each year, one in February and one in August except in an election year where the August round will not be available.

The My Mitcham Community Grant has a pool of $100,000 available as matched funding, with no set limit per grant for local community initiatives like:

  • Programs
  • Workshops
  • Library events
  • Community Events
  • Cultural celebrations

The Grants Committee will meet in April and we'll notify all applicants of the outcome by early May.

Limitations

Eligibility

  • Individuals who are residents of the City of Mitcham
  • Any incorporated ‘not for profit’ group, community group or voluntary association located within the City of Mitcham
  • Be incorporated or under the auspices of an incorporated body
  • Groups or organisations that are currently in receipt of other Council funding may apply, providing they can demonstrate this application is for new equipment or a new project
  • Organisations that have previously received Council funding must have finalised all aspects of the Funding Agreement prior to applying for further grant funding.

Ineligible

  • Applicants from previously funded groups who have not satisfactorily fulfilled requirements outlined in the funding agreement will not be considered
  • Schools are not eligible to apply, however incorporated community groups based within a school setting are eligible to apply provided they can demonstrate that:
    • The project/event/activity is initiated, managed and organised by local residents who are assisted rather than directed by a governing education body
    • Funding is not available from a governing education body for the project
  • Services which are considered to be primarily the responsibility of the State or Federal Governments, eg Friends of / Volunteer Groups of State Government facilities
  • Elected Members and employees of the City of Mitcham are not eligible to sign or be listed on any grant application.
