Purpose

Grassroots Grants funding is provided by the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board (the Board) to help communities sustainably manage our region’s precious landscapes.

Overview

All projects must contribute to one or more of the Board's regional priorities and focus areas:

  • Pest plant and animal control
  • Sustainable agriculture
  • Water management
  • Biodiversity
  • Communities

The total value of the Grassroots Grants Program for Northern and Yorke in 2026-27 is up to $200,000 (including First Nations projects), with grants between $2,000 and $10,000 available for 12-month projects.

The application process has two stages:

  1. Complete the online Expression of Interest form.
  2. A Landscape Board staff member will contact you to discuss your project and advise whether you can proceed to the next stage. If approved to apply, you will be invited to submit a full application online using SmartyGrants. .

Limitations

The applicant must be:

  • An incorporated community group (or a non-incorporated group with an incorporated sponsor)
  • A group of 3 or more landholders working together on a project on their lands (landholders will need an incorporated sponsor such as a Local Government or ag bureau)
  • Local Government organisations with matched contribution (funding or in-kind)
  • Schools, universities or other educational entity
  • First Nations organisations.

The following are unable to apply:

  • Successful applicants who were awarded a multi-year project in 2024-2025
  • Individuals
  • Businesses (sole traders, partnerships)
  • Natural Resource Centres (alternative funding available)
