Purpose
Small Grants can help eligible groups and individuals meet unexpected community needs during the year.
Overview
You can apply for up to $3,000 to support a small project or activity.
Examples of small-scale projects or activities include:
- Short series of workshops. These could be arts, exercise, or activities to help people learn about their neighbourhood.
- Setting up a new community group including acquiring Public Liability Insurance and a certificate of incorporation
- Environmental or sustainability projects, like community gardening or clean-up days.
- A youth engagement project. This could include mentoring or a co-design activity.
- A small community celebration or cultural activity. It must be workable within the grant amount. Larger events that need formal permits may not be suitable for this type of grant funding.
- Pop-up activities in community spaces or libraries
Projects or activities under this grant must:
- Start and finish within 6 months of signing the Funding Agreement
- Be acquitted 2 months after completion
Limitations
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a not-for-profit organisation or incorporated community group. Unincorporated eligible individuals, groups and organisations can apply through an auspice arrangement
- Have Public Liability Insurance cover for the duration of the project or activity
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Make sure projects or activities are delivered within Brimbank and show a clear benefit to Brimbank residents. In limited cases, parts of a project may take place outside Brimbank where there is a clear and direct benefit to our residents.
- Be compliant with acquittal obligations for other grants funded under the Brimbank Community Grants Program
- Plan to deliver and complete the funded project or activity within the agreed period.
