Purpose

Environment Grants support activities that improve Newcastle's environment by expanding our urban forest through revegetation initiatives, greening streets, parks and open space and providing increased pollinator habitat throughout the city.

Overview

Outcomes: 

  • Expansion and /or protection of Newcastle's urban forest.
  • Engagement initiatives that build community environmental stewardship.
  • Building urban ecosystem resilience.
  • Reinstating pollinator pathways across the Local Government Area (LGA) and reconnecting our blue green corridors.

Examples: Outreach programs such as bioblitz or citizen science activities, installing pollinator habitat, such as street gardens, greening walls, revegetation, bush regeneration, tiny forests, supplementary wildlife habitat native bee hives.

*Note: Applications for new structures or built works on community land such as parks or natural areas will require approval from CN in advance of submission. Please contact grants@ncc.nsw.gov.au for more information.

  • Individuals must be auspiced by eligible entity
  • Voluntary run groups
  • Community gardens groups
