The green buildings grant category supports environmental upgrades to existing buildings more than 10 years old.

Funding is to reduce emissions, waste and water use through ratings, assessments and upgrade support.

Projects may occur in:

• commercial buildings such as offices, hotels and retail buildings
• apartment buildings

Cash funding of up to $50,000 is available for each project up to one year. Multi-year funding (up to 3 years) is also available.

Support can include up to $10,000 for capital expenditure.

Along with general exclusions, funding can't be used for:

• upgrade to new buildings (buildings less than 10 years old)
• a NABERS rating mandated by any government scheme.

The following can apply:

• eligible not-for-profit organisation
• incorporated association
• co-operative
• corporation
• owners corporation
• trustee of a trust.

Corporations including strata and building management companies and qualified service providers can apply on behalf of building owners and owners corporations.
