Purpose

The program supports youth leadership, innovation, and practical solutions that benefit people and the planet.

Overview

Through the Youth Climate Action Fund Grant program, the City will provide between $1,500 and $7,000 (excluding GST) for eligible climate action projects led by young people aged 15 - 24 and supported by organisations that work with young people.

What we will fund: 

  • events and workshop costs including venue hire and basic catering;
  • marketing and promotional materials including printing and photography;
  • training and mentor fees for youth-focused workshops and skills development;
  • project supplies such as equipment, tools, materials and technology;
  • permit or approval fees required to deliver the project; and
  • Auspice fees to a maximum of 10 percent of the project cost.

Eligibility

  • offer a project within the City's local government area or a project that will result in a direct impact on the City
  • be a legally constituted entity with an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have a bank account in the organisations name;
  • be recognised as a not-for-profit or charitable organisation (ACNC) under Australian laws;
  • have appropriate insurances where required, as outlined under the City's Activity Approvals or other relevant policies and procedures;
  • have submitted the application prior to the project commencement date with sufficient time to enable consideration by the City;
  • demonstrate financial viability without the City's funding (an individual event or project may not be viable without the City's support, however the organisation must be);
  • the organisation has applied for no more than three different projects led by young people within this funding period; and
  • the project is led by young people aged 15-24 and supported by organisations that work with young people.
