Purpose

A grants program is now open for landowners with native vegetation Heritage Agreements, to fund projects which improve biodiversity.

Overview

The program recognises the valuable contribution that Heritage Agreement landowners make to our state's environment, enhancing biodiversity, supporting threatened species and building ecological resistance to climate change. The program makes a significant contribution to Australia's commitment to aim to protect 30% of global land and marine areas by the year 2030. Heritage Agreements account for 3.5% of conserved land in South Australia.

What is being offered?

Three types of grants are available:

  • medium <$25,000 (GST inclusive)
  • large between $25,001 and $100,000 (GST inclusive)
  • multi-property <$200,000 (GST inclusive).

Grants can be for:

  • one-off activities or activities that span multiple years
  • works on individual Heritage Agreements or works spanning multiple Heritage Agreements.

The program will start in August 2026 and run until June 2030.

Eligibility

People who own land with a Heritage Agreement or a person (like a contractor) working on a Heritage Agreement on behalf of the landowner are eligible to apply.

If you do not have a Heritage Agreement but would like to know more, please visit the Heritage Agreements page for assistance in entering an agreement.
