Purpose

The Regional Artist Development (RAD) is Wagga Wagga Art Gallery's annual residency and exhibition program offering a range development and mentoring opportunities for artists from the Riverina region and beyond.

Overview

In partnership with Earth Canvas, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery is thrilled to offer an artist residency focused on the intersection of environmental art and regenerative farming. This unique opportunity is designed for artists whose practice engages with themes of healthy landscapes, soil health, food production, and sustainability.

What's included:

  • Residency Duration: 2 weeks at a regenerative farm + 2 weeks at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery E3 Art Space.
  • Accommodation: Provided for the regenerative farm portion of the residency only.
  • Stipend: $3,000 total
  • Mentorship: The residency includes mentoring from a leading Australian landscape artist, providing valuable insights into working with nature to cultivate healthy ecosystems and produce sustainable food.

During the farm residency, artists will engage directly with the land, learning about regenerative practices in agriculture. The residency will be followed by a studio residency at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, where artists will have the opportunity to reflect on and develop their work further.

This residency is ideal for artists with an environmental focus who are eager to expand their understanding of regenerative practices and create work that engages with themes of sustainability, food systems, and environmental health.
