Purpose

This is awarded to a person who has made an outstanding discovery (or discoveries) in clinical or experimental biomedical research that has had an important impact on biomedical science, clinical medicine, or the way in which healthcare is delivered.

Overview

The Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research includes a medal and a $50,000 grant.

Candidates for the Medal are provided by nomination only from professionals within the medical and scientific research community. The Ramaciotti Foundations’ SAC may nominate candidates, seek nominations or advice from other biomedical scientists.

They do not accept self-nominations. Previous nominees may be nominated again A minimum of one and maximum of three nominees applies.

Limitations

The greater part of their work leading to the discovery (or discoveries) must have been conducted in Australia.

The nominee should still be actively engaged in this work.
