The Council Capacity Building Funding Round provides targeted financial assistance to eligible NSW councils to overcome barriers associated with the installation of kerbside EV charging stations.
Overview
The EV kerbside charging grants (the grants) aim to:
- support NSW’s goal of being the easiest place in Australia to own and operate an EV
- increase EV charging options for EV drivers with limited or no access to off-street parking
- support the needs of an increasing number of EV drivers and make the EV transition process easier
- test different kerbside charging technologies and commercial models to develop a sustainable kerbside charging market
- provide information and support on planning approval pathways for kerbside charging.
This funding round aims to support eligible NSW councils to strengthen their capacity, capability, systems and processes to achieve the following objectives:
- accelerate the rollout of kerbside EV charging
- participate in NSW Government EV charging programs
- contribute to state net zero emissions reduction targets through transport electrification
- overcome capacity and capability constraints related to resourcing, planning policy,
- community engagement, and other processes for kerbside EV charging.
Limitations
To overcome these infrastructure gaps, 37 councils are eligible under this funding round. View list of eligible councils.
