Purpose
To encourage, recognise, honour and reward the work of dedicated, talented, innovative and inspiring teachers.
Overview
NEiTA objectives are to:
- Recognise teachers and leaders who represent excellence within their teaching profession through their contribution to the advancement of education at a local, regional or national levels.
- Raise community confidence in the teaching profession.
- Encourage and support increased professional development of teachers.
- Provide grants and award prizes to teachers and leaders who have demonstrated a particularly high level of dedication and professional expertise and excellence.
- Encourage the enjoyment of learning.
All NEiTA winners receive up to a $10,000 Professional Development Grant, a glass blown apple trophy and a framed certificate.
Limitations
Who can nominate:
- all teachers are encouraged to nominate themselves
- parents, grandparents or guardians
- colleagues, peers and school leaders
- community organisations, school councils and parent associations
Who is eligible:
- Must be qualified and registered teachers and principals in primary, special, and secondary schools in Australia or New Zealand.
- Must have a minimum of two years' teaching experience.
- Must be currently employed, meeting at least 0.6 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) per week
- Nominee has not received a NEiTA Award in the past 3 years (except the NEiTA Trustees Alumni Award)
- Has not received the NEiTA Trustees Alumni Award
