Purpose
The John Monash Scholarship is a prestigious Australian postgraduate award that allows recipients to study in any field, at any international university, anywhere in the world.
Overview
Inspired by General Sir John Monash, the John Monash Scholarship is valued at $100,000 AUD per year for up to three years of full-time postgraduate study, at any world-class university outside of Australia. Each year the Foundation awards between 14-20 scholarships, empowering our scholars to gain world-class expertise from their chosen institutions, to then deliver positive impact for Australia.
Additional fee waivers or bursaries are also available if you complete your studies with one of our partner universities:
Kings College London, United Kingdom - an additional 5,000 bursary
Cranfield University, United Kingdom - a full fee waiver for Masters programs at all schools (except the MBA)
IE University Madrid, Spain - an additional 30% fee waiver
University of Groningen, Netherlands - a full fee waiver for PhD programs
Eligibility
You're eligible for a John Monash Scholarship if you:
- Are an Australian citizen
- Have completed (or will complete by the end of the 2026) an undergraduate degree at an Australian university
- Plan to start a full-time master's or PhD at an overseas university in 2027
You're not eligible if you:
- Are applying for scholarship funding for current postgraduate study or a program that starts in 2026
- Plan to study at an Australian university
- Already hold a Rhodes, Fulbright or Ramsay scholarship for the same program
