Purpose

The Queensland Off-The-Track Veterinary and Rehabilitation Grant has been developed by Racing Queensland to support the short-term veterinary and rehabilitation needs of retired Standardbred and Thoroughbred horses.

Overview

The program aims to improve the welfare of these horses by:

  • Supporting early veterinary intervention and appropriate rehabilitation;
  • Reducing the risk of long-term or chronic health issues;
  • Increasing the likelihood of successful transition to life after racing.

Grant funds may be used to support the costs of:

  • Veterinary assessment and diagnostics;
  • Surgery and medical treatment;
  • Rehabilitation services and therapies prescribed by a registered veterinarian.
