There are 11 categories available to be entered into as part of the Awards as listed below (each an Award Category):

• Product Innovation Award;
• High Growth Business Award;
• Business Transformation Award;
• Small Business Award;
• International Business Award;
• Sustainability in Business Award;
• Social Enterprise Award;
• Investment in Brisbane Award;
• Micro Business Award;
• Young Business Person of the Year Award; and
• Business Person of the Year Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding and enduring contribution to the business community over an extended period, they can be selected from the Business Person finalists or outside of the finalists.

Almost all businesses operating in the Brisbane Local Government Area (LGA) are eligible to nominate for the Awards. This includes:

• businesses headquartered in Brisbane;
• businesses that have a current office and place of business in Brisbane, and provide or deliver goods or services at least five (5) days per week to the area of Brisbane, but are not headquartered in Brisbane;
• not-for-profit businesses that are registered companies; and
• companies with Brisbane City Council as a client.

The following organisations are not eligible to nominate:

• with the exception of the education institutions, government agencies, departments, statutory bodies or wholly-owned business subsidiaries of government; and
• award sponsors are not eligible to nominate in their own sponsored Award category, however they can enter other categories.
