Purpose
Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) is a national philanthropic foundation specifically focused on funding lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and other (LGBTQIA+) community issues in Australia.
Overview
Large Grant funding rounds open from time to time as funds become available. Large Grants are sometimes collaborative, with financial support from another philanthropic funder.
Applying for a grant is a two-stage process:
- Firstly, Pride Foundation will call for expressions of interest (EOI), which asks for an outline of the proposed project. These are then reviewed, with a small number of the best applicants being invited to make a full submission. This 'short-list' is usually completed within 1 month of the closing of the EOI stage.
- Short-listed applicants will then be invited to submit a detailed application together with a detailed budget.
Large grants are generally suited to projects including:
- Community development
- Education initiatives
- Applied, community-led research with tangible outcomes in the field
- Events or conferences
The grants are not intended to support capital and building works, vehicles, furniture or equipment, general fund-raising, travel, books or religious activities.
Current Large Grants:
AFF x PFA Short Film initiative: Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund (AFFIF) is partnering with Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) to develop a new short film initiative.
AFFIF and PFA will fund the production of one new Australian short film, which will then have its World Premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival 2026.
The initiative will give one Australian creative team a $40,000 grant to produce a short film (up to 10 minutes)
