Purpose
Grant-funded initiatives will teach young people that anti-social behaviour carries consequences, while simultaneously providing connections, guidance and support to get them back on track.
Overview
Grants of up to $300,000 will be available to initiatives that focus on reducing crime, identifying and addressing the range of risks and needs for young people, repairing relationships with family and kin, and supporting a young person's re-engagement with education, training, or employment.
An ideal proposal will include:
- a pro-social, activity-based engagement or concept for individuals and groups aged 8 to 17 years old
targeted at prevention and early intervention responses aimed at reducing youth crime and boosting education, and providing training and/or employment pathways for young people - a response to local youth crime matters in your community, including how your idea/project aligns with community need and your local community connections.
- a demonstration of culturally safe and local partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and/or culturally and linguistically diverse people and communities
- a demonstration of how your idea/project addresses anti-social behaviour and improves community safety
- a performance and outcomes measure that reflects the needs and aspirations of young people in the community.
Programs demonstrating measurable positive impact may be eligible for ongoing funding.
Limitations
Organisations from across Queensland who can deliver community-led initiatives focusing on reducing youth crime, boosting education, and providing training, or employment for young people are encouraged to apply.
Applicants will need to provide evidence that their program will ensure interventions are relevant, sustainable, and effectively address the unique challenges faced by young people in Queensland.
The lead agency must:
- be either an incorporated not-for-profit, registered business or legal entity; or
- have an auspice agreement with any of the above entities (which is to be detailed in your application). have a registered and current Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN).
- have experience delivering services in Queensland.
- hold public liability insurance to the value of not less than $10 million or, provide evidence of plans to obtain insurance to the value of not less than $10 million to cover the proposed project.
- have no overdue reports, or service delivery or performance issues for funding previously or currently provided by the Department of Children, Youth Justice, and Multicultural Affairs, or the Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training.
