Purpose
The Multicultural Grassroots Initiatives grant opportunity will provide funding to community-led grassroots organisations that embrace Australia's multicultural diversity and help multicultural communities to become an active part of Australia's economic and social development.
Overview
The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are:
- multicultural community-led grassroots organisations have increased capacity to engage in government grant funding processes and support a cohesive multicultural society
- increased tolerance and understanding of cultural diversity and reduced instances of discrimination and racism
- increased rates of social participation by multicultural community members
- increased rates of culturally diverse Australians expressing a sense of belonging.
Eligible activities must directly relate to the objectives outlined at section 2 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.
Events - maximum of $10,000 per year
Events that showcase elements of cultural heritage to the broader community in order to increase understanding and awareness of racial, religious and cultural diversity, including a:
- cultural festival or event
- multicultural festival or event
- harmony week event.
Programs - maximum of $40,000 per year
Programs that encourage the social participation of isolated community members and/or facilitate interactions and collaborations among different cultural, ethnic, and social groups to foster interconnections and development of unified relationships, such as a:
- cultural or intercultural sports program
- cultural or intercultural art project
- cultural or intercultural youth, parent, women's or men's group program.
Limitations
To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types:
- Company
- Cooperative
- Incorporated Association
- Indigenous Corporation
- Statutory Entity.
If you are applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust , the Trustee must be an eligible entity as listed above. You may be required to provide evidence of your entity type.
