Purpose

General Grants support people and organisations in remote and very remote Australia to overcome challenges caused by distance, isolation, and limited access to opportunities.

Overview

Grants of up to $10,000 for education, training, health, wellbeing, and community-led initiatives that reduce barriers caused by distance and projects that directly benefit people living in Remote or Very Remote communities.

Rounds for 2026 open:

  • Round 1:  Applications open 1-31 March
  • Round 2:  Applications open 1-30 June
  • Round 3:  Applications open 1-30 September

When a grant round is open, you can access the relevant application link, complete all required fields, and submit your application electronically. There is no need to email or send any forms separately.

Limitations

Individuals: 

You're eligible if you:

  • Live, work, or study in a Remote or Very Remote area for a minimum of two years .
  • Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Organisations: 

You're eligible if you:

  • Are a small to medium sized registered Not-for-Profit (NFP) organisation
  • an unincorporated community group auspiced by an eligible NFP.
  • Deliver activities that directly benefit people in Remote or Very Remote areas
