Purpose

Queer Screen Pitch Off offers Australian LGBTIQ+ filmmakers the opportunity to share in a $10,000 prize of funding to produce a short film that addresses the lives and stories of people of diverse genders and sexualities.

Overview

To qualify, all film projects submitted must meet the eligibility requirements.

Following an initial assessment of all eligible projects, selected finalists will pitch their film proposals to a panel of expert assessors. Finalists' scripts will be provided to the judges one week prior to the event.

Finalists will have a maximum of eight minutes to pitch their proposal and impress both the panel and the public-so make every second count!

The winner will receive $10,000 in short film funding. All finalists will also receive a QSFF26 Flexi 6 pass and access to the Queer Screen Studio on 6 September (more details to come).

Application deadline:

  • Non-Members: Monday 10th August, 2026
  • Queer Screen Members: Monday 17th August, 2026

Successful candidates will be notified by Monday 24th August, 2026 and are strongly encouraged to pitch in person at the Pitch Off event on Saturday 5th September, 2026, at Event Cinemas George Street in Sydney - or they can pitch remotely.
