Purpose
The Active Transport Fund (ATF) is part of the Australian Government's commitment, under the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-30, to improve road safety outcomes, including for vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians.
Overview
The ATF is an ongoing, application-based, merit-assessed, funding program, open to all state and territory governments and Local Government Authorities. The program provides funding for the upgrade of existing, and construction of new, bicycle and walking pathways across Australia.
The program has 3 objectives:
- road safety
- reducing transport emissions
- active and liveable communities.
Eligibility
Applications can only be submitted by a:
- State or Territory Government entity,
- or LGA.
Applications in partnership with other government and non-government entities must have a lead applicant from a state or territory government, or LGA. Applications cannot be submitted by, and will not be accepted from, any other entity.
