The NRL and Advance Queensland are collaborating on a three-year Innovation Partnership that aims to help the NRL solve some of their pressing challenges through Queensland innovations.

The NRL Magic Round Innovation Partnership aims to support Queensland-based businesses to refine and adapt their technologies to meet the needs of the NRL, its clubs and/or its partners, and address real-world industry challenges.

In 2026, the partnership will deliver the NRL Magic Round Tech Showcase during Magic Round on Friday, 15 May 2026.

The NRL Magic Round Tech Showcase will spotlight the strength and diversity of Queensland's innovation ecosystem by featuring cuttingedge technologies with the potential to create meaningful impact across Rugby League, its clubs, partners and sponsors.

Queensland-based organisations are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to exhibit under one of two streams. A summary of the streams is provided below, with further details available in the EOI for applicants who meet eligibility requirements.

Stream 1 - Sports Innovation

• Player Performance and Welfare
• Fan Engagement
• Operational Efficiency
• Grassroots Innovation and Participation Growth.

Stream 2 - Platform Technologies

• Sustainability and Circular Economy
• Connected Infrastructure and Smart Venues
• Digital Consumer Engagement and Retail Innovation.

Businesses within and outside of sport technology are encouraged to pivot and tailor solutions to meet either stream.

Who can apply: 

• your business is located in Queensland
• a micro, start-up or small to medium enterprise
• ABN registered in Queensland as the main business location
• your technology, product, solution fully developed, with at least one customer
